The actor’s job is to get the audience out of their heads and into their hearts and keep them there.

I have been a professional actor for 35 years, working in mainstream, independent and low budget films, TV dramas and soaps, West-End, repertory and touring theatre. I know what it takes to be a successful professional working actor. This depth and range of experience has led me to a great many realisations, which I am dedicated to sharing as an acting teacher, private 121 acting coach and director.

My Journey

As a young actor I apprenticed professionally at The Birmingham Repertory Theatre before studying at Middlesex University School of Performing Arts and then going onto train at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama.

While working as a jobbing actor throughout my 20s and 30s, my continued passion and curiosity to expand my knowledge and find deeper ways of working led me to further study with master acting teachers in London, New York and Los Angeles , in techniques pioneered by Sandford Meisner, Stella Adler and Lee Strasberg. More recently I have studied the work of Mike Alfreds and trained in The Spiritual Psychology of Acting. As a result, I have gained a deeply authentic and genuine understanding of the art & craft of acting and how to teach it.

My own career highlights as an actor include working alongside: Sam Rockwell (Moon), Helena Bonham Carter (Wings Of The Dove), Colin Firth (Fever Pitch) and Ray Winstone (Five Seconds To Spare).

I am based in London and have been teaching and coaching acting for 20 years now, running my own specialist intensive courses in the UK and Internationally. I coach actors privately to develop their roles for Film, TV and Theatre, as well as preparing actors for castings. I also specialise in personal development through ongoing private 121 practice.

Actors who have trained with me or currently coaching with me, include: Ed Speleers (Picard, You, Outlander, Downton Abbey, Wolf Hall), Stacy Martin (Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac, Ridley Scotts All The Money In The World, The Serpent), Fola Evans-Akingbola (The Night Agent, Ten Percent, Siren, Game Of Thrones), Emily Beecham (1899, Little Joe, Cruella), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange, David Copperfield), Freddie Fox (White House Farm, The Three Musketeers), Laura Birn (Foundation, The Crow), Jamie Ward (Verona, His Dark Materials), Cavan Clerkin (Last Kingdom, Cobra, The Capture, Muscle), James Murray (The Crown, Masters Of The Air), Christina Wolf (The Ark, The Weekend Away, Batwoman), Julian Kostov (Shadow & Bone, Berlin Station)
